The Dallas Independent School District (DISD) has begun the process of  implementing the International Baccalaureate Program (IB) at Preston Hollow Elementary, Benjamin Franklin Middle School, and Hillcrest High School.  Preston Hollow Elementary school will be the first in the Division 3 feeder pattern to apply for the IB program in April 2014, making it a School of Choice for the district. DISD will be holding monthly information sessions, October through February to discuss the IB program, Balanced Literacy Program, College Readiness Program and much more at Preston Hollow Elementary and the feeder pattern.

The International Baccalaureate Program (IB), a rigorous college preparatory program focuses on developing strong intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills through inquiry both inside and outside the classroom.  The IB offers a continuum of education with four individual programs, the Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program, Diploma Program and Career– related Certificate.  The IB curriculum provides a rigorous, high quality education, encouraging students to ask challenging questions, reflect critically, develop research skills, and  learn how to learn.  An IB diploma is a strong predictor for success in college.

Hillcrest Feeder Pattern:

• Preston Hollow Elementary has a Balanced Literacy Program, which is a customized literacy program child
• PHE has a Balanced Literacy Library
• PHE, Franklin Middle and HHS have a College Readiness Program which entails each classroom being named after a college and have the corresponding college banners, flags on the classroom doors. This will emphasize a college going culture.
• PHE is in the process of implementing a koi pond, chicken coup and fruit/vegetable garden which will be implemented with the math and science program.       
  
• PHE is undergoing major capital improvements.
